Honeywell T4 wired Prog Stat.

Hi all.
About to order one of these on eBay for a friend, as there are seemingly plenty BNIB to be had from £40 upwards (£90+ from normal sources).
Due diligence - anything to look out for in terms of revised models, for example?
I'm happy enough to buy a 'new' product on t'Bay as I know I'm covered and can usually tell the difference, but wondering why so many available from so many for so little?
(Espec don't want to mess up as it ain't for me).
Thanks.

Fait accompli - bought on t'Bay, BNIB, being hand-delivered from a nearby town, for £30.
It would be rude not to.

Most new UK sold items on Ebay are exactly the same as you would buy anywhere else. There is a bit of a myth that they are all seconds or copies etc... but this isn't true ( beware things coming direct from China though ! ).

Some of the reasons they are cheaper can be economies of scale, different overheads etc..

Also if a company is an official Honeywell dealer, Honeywell may well tell them there is a minimum price they have to sell it at on their own website ( this is very common in lots of areas ) so as not to upset other official dealers. These companies will often also sell a lot cheaper on Ebay under a different name to get around this.

This is a bit of a grey area as its not technically price fixing, which is illegal, but a way they can get around it and make much bigger profits

I had to buy a new PCB for my Ferroli bolier. Price from an official Ferroli dealer was £180, on Ebay was £60 new or £30 refurbished. When it arrived it was sent by a quite large heating parts supply company who charged a lot more for it on their website.

    Thanks.

I've had good results on eBay, both buying and selling. My only 'concern' re the T4 was in case the range had been updated with new firmware, and the cheap 'new' ones on t'Bay were perhaps older models, but seemingly not.

This is a great example of how good it can be - the owner is in a town around 25 mins away, so I asked if it could be collected. "No prob, but I'm also up your way a lot, so happy to drop it off". And £10 knocked off as he didn't have to post it. Blimey
