I have smart meters. When I look at BG app or website they tell me that they have not received readings from the electricity meter, however, using the Bright app I can see usage etc. The last smart electricity meter reading was 24 August 2022 since then they have been using estimated readings.
I decided to take a reading and enter it on their website.
When I looked this morning I am told "We are creaing a new bill please look again in 24 hours.
When I look at meter reading page it shows consumption between 15 June 2023 an 4 July 2023 as 9999683 kWh.
Awaiting bill and anticipating a communication nightmare

A couple of comments. Suppliers use what is known as Adapter software to carryout a data pull from your meter. Third parties like Bright use their own Adapter to retrieve data. It is therefore possible that one Adapter might recover data when the other doesn’t.

There can be data corruption or loss:

Where data is missing, the meter returns a hexadecimal code which equates to zero but is often recorded on the supplier’s system, in the case of gas, as over 33,000kWh of usage. The supplier’s systems should attempt a further data pull to correct the error. Data corruption for electricity does occasionally happen but gas is more prone to it because of the HAN connection and gas proxy meter (is my guess).
