NatWest - new account

Bear with me, I’m ranting 😃
I opened a new current account with NatWest 2 weeks ago. All good so far, switch went well. I had a 4 figure cheque to pay in so trudged 16 miles to a branch to pay in. This afternoon I logged onto the app to see that the cheque I paid in is still pending and the bank I deposited the cheque with have taken the total back out for reasons unknown!! Which means I’m in overdraft by 4 figures 😱😱. I have spent an hour waiting for someone to pick up the phone and local branch made a mistake and I will have to wait until the local branch can ring me tomorrow to sort it out. Meanwhile I can’t use my card and have 2 payments pending which may or may not be declined!!
not a good start to my NatWest experience. 👎

Cheques have always been one of the slowest forms of payment and going into a brand new bank account it will most likely get subject to more checks to ensure there is no fraud concerns.
When did you pay the cheque in? You should have waited for the cheque to fully clear before spending from it.1 -
You can pay in cheques using the NatWest app by taking a photo of the cheque. Or you can pay in cheques to NatWest at the Post Office. Certainly no need to go a NatWest Branch.1

This happened to me with NW once as well. fortunately it was a small amount so wasn’t the end of the world but it strikes me that NW aren’t that good when it comes to cheques.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
