Emirates Flight Downgrade Rip Off

Hi all.

I’ll keep this as short as I can. I’m looking for advice or similar experiences re downgrade refunds please. Mods please move if in wrong place

Basically, last year we paid for flights only to Australia and back for March this year. 2 of the 4 flights were premium economy and were about £550 each more than economy. One flight was fine but due to “operational issues” we were downgraded to economy and had to apply for a refund once we’d returned. Having done this we were only offered  £55.89 each. I’ve appealed this but basically been told it’s correct and no more can be done. They won’t even give me a breakdown of how they’ve come to this decision!!

Any thoughts, advice or next steps welcomed please

Melbourne to Dubai. Was Dubai to Sydney going and that was all good. We only got a few weeks notice to either accept the downgrade or cancel

The routing will not fall under EU/UK regulations for downgrades. I had originally assumed this happened at the airport but you say this happened weeks before the flight, I assume you opted not to cancel as it would have been more expensive to rebook elsewhere.
I would imagine they would have repriced the ticket at the time you accepted the downgrade so whilst the difference may have been £550 more at the time of purchase, a new booking for those dates/classes closer to the time of departure was more expensive as the unaffected legs may have increased also and although unchanged would have been incorporated into the recalculation

Thanks. I can see the reasoning and suspected that but how can it be fair. I paid for a service at a price and they did not deliver so surely I should be reimbursed? It’s an absolute !!!!!! take
