Cooker switch !

After knocking off the tiles during a kitchen refit i found the bare ends of the 6mm cable for the cooker, just left in the metal box exposed and unconnected!, the fuse is still in the bord.
Due to not knowing the location of this hidden switch box our kitchen design has left the cable joint bang in the middle of our splashback, so here is the problem.
Can I join it with connector blocks and run a switch in an adjacent cupboard, if so what with ?, maximum is 30 amps is for the connector blocks that I have seen.
To trace the cable back to its source or to the the floor void above would be a very last resort due to the work involved.
Hope you can help here has some cowboy has given me a real headache.

Hi Bob
I had exactly the same problem in my kitchen.
I'm not an electrician.
A family member is a retired NWeb inspector and he wouldnt let me connect it with connector blocks behind the splashback.
He said I had to run a new piece of cable and connect where it was accessable. You can't hide connector blocks where you can't get to them.
hope this help.

hi bob,
a couple of questions
was the cooker not working before,
are the cables live they may have been chopped above.
is it a plasterboard wall0 -
Hi mepone.
Just checked the cables and they are live.
The cable runs behind plasterboard that is bonded to the wall with shallow battens I think, there is metal cable protection just visible.
I believe it is looking more likely that I will have to go into the celing which will be a huge task due to lifting the sheet flooring above in the bathroom and If I do with what shall I connect the new cable with there?
Thanks in advance

Rob is correct, all connections are suposed to be accessible. Is there a cupboard or something above the splashback? if so could connect it above this, that way it would be accessible and not very visible. TLC sell 60 amp junction box's, not sure but it may fit inside a double socket back box.

can you not fish the cable out above the top cupboards and make it off into a 30 amp joint box? What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0
