My washing machine machine - a Zanussi - has a soap drawer which comes completely out for the pupose of cleaning it.
On peering into the hole where it lives I was horrified to see thick black gunk - there's no way I can reach it. A bottle brush is too flimsy.
How do I clean it out?
Will a hand held steam cleaner with a pointy nozzle do the trick? Or should I make up a bleach solution and try and spray it in there?
If anyone has a small hand held steam cleaner with pointy nozzle - do they operate under pressure for effectiveness?

Would a small scrubbing brush used for pot washing be strong enough and long enough to penetrate the grimey darkness :-/Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Mine is the same - absolutely mingin' :-[ Same with rubber door seal - black crud round it too. I've tried vinegar, washing soda plus 'normal' cleaners - no shifting it. Also I've noticed the inside of the drum smells mouldy (may be due to black much behind soap drawer that I can't get into. Anybody else got a Zanussi with this personal hygiene prob?0

I get this all the time on my washing machine, i just normally leave to soak overnight in a mild detergent and that seems to work also do give it a bit of a scrub in the morning.
would a toothbrush not work?0 -
Well I managed to get some out using an old toothbrush. Still lots in there though. I might try the steam cleaner idea next.
But thanks anyway.0
