Can you recommend me a sub £150 decent quality dash cam?

Having seen some atrocious and outright dangerous driving recently, I thought it would be wise to invest in a decent, simple to use, yet not too expensive dash cam. I'm after a fairly compact unit, if it's removable (and transferable to another vehicle, that would be a bonus). Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have not checked prices recently but always been happy with the Nextbase products.

The only issue with nextbase is the card need formatting every month.
I have a DOD dash cam, not sure if you can get them now.
Mine is 8 years old and never missed a beat.
Get a very good high endurance Micro SD card.

Recently bought a Road Angel Halo Go from Argos for £99. It might be on offer now at £89. SIM card is included. The app is a bit fiddly, but what's new? Picture is very clear, nice wide angle, seems to do the job. Unit is more compact that I had imagined from the website, which is a bonus.

    Have a look here
    DashCamTalk
They test almost every cam and there's a forum with tips and faults.

We're running a Viofo A119 and a Mobius 1S action cam. the Mobius is not really a dashcam but you can configure it to work as a simple dashcam and it works really well.

I fitted cheap Mini 0906's to a few cars, they are pretty tidy and record rather well for little money.

Thanks for that! Funnily enough, the dash cams with the most reviews and decent ratings on Amazon generally score quite low on DashCamTalk.

The big name brand ones are a complete rip-off. You don't need 4k and pointless features like WiFi.

Got one of these for a relative, they are great. My own car has an ancient ePrance one, 1080p and decent night vision, about 10 years old but still going strong. The SD card is a normal Samsung one, not an expensive dashcam type, and has been good for about 50k miles so far.

OP, have you thought of using your phone? I bought a phone holder for £15 ish, downloaded a free Android app, and all sorted. No rear view, but I took the view that the risk of missing anything from behind is slim, and front facing footage would show if I'm stationary if I get hit.
I use droid dashcam which auto saves in 10 minute chunks, and will save up to 25gb on my phone which is more than enough for the longest journey I take.

I was previously of the view that front facing is all you need.
Until someone in a Transit drive into the back of my wife's Fiesta and bent the rear bar but was not obviously visible at the time of the incident (because the bumper simply bounced back and the cracking was obscured by the boot lid).

Obviously, that was not an event missed, and the other driver had no choice other than to stop.
Apparently, though, the driver was rather a large gentleman and refused his details and threatened my wife when she went to photograph his van.
Wisely, she just let him drive off.
Now, how much of this is her being shaken so not as robust as she'd normally be and how much was the other driver simply being brutish is down to history.
Had she had a rear facing dashcam, not getting the details would be irrelevant as she could have pursued after the event from the video.  Particularly as it was a sign-written company vehicle.

My wife now has a rear facing dash cam also.  That, hopefully, is bolting the stable door after the horse ran and the event will never be repeated.
