Sorry, I wasn't clear. I thought that the number who flew in 2006 might be higher than the number who flew in 2003. Found this article

No. The definition of an unaccompanied minor is "A child traveling, usually on an airline, without a parent or other adult guardian." They're not accompanied as such on the plane - just checked occasionally. I've found out more about unaccompanied minors today than I ever wanted to know. But not, sadly, the answer to the queation.
