Evri want more money.

Sent a parcel using Evri, I know they’re not the best.
I weighed the parcel and selected the correct postage amount, sent it and it was delivered on 16th June.
This morning I received an email from them requesting more money as it apparently weight nearly three times what I weighed it as.
I’ve obviously no evidence of it weighting approx 800g and all they have sent me is a copy of it weighing exactly 2kg.
Where do I stand with this one?

There's a few threads on this on the boards from the past, if you don't pay what can do about it?
Ask for them proof of the weight, doubt they have any, it's likely an error where two parcels have been weighed together at some point.0 -
Was it picked up by a driver or dropped at a shop?Life in the slow lane0

I had a similar experience with another parcel company. It appears that they calculate weight using a volumetric weight formula. Basically they calculate volume then multiply by a set figure to work out volumetric weight. It doesn't matter whether it's a box of feathers or box of bricks, it's the size that matters. I don't know if all carriers use this formula but I think it's pretty standard.0

Lots of incidents of items being swapped out for other things. Not saying it's happened but it wouldn't be the first time.
Have they send you photos which show your parcel hasn't been tampered with.
Was it a high value item as tends to happen more on those it would seem0 -

Such charges should only occur if the parcel is under declared in size and/or weight.
Whilst I'm sure that happens it is also feasible the machine checking has picked up on more than just the one parcel at a time.0 -
