Just how long does it take Churchill to pay?

My garage first submitted a repair invoice for payment to Churchill on 6th June and they still haven't paid. My car is sitting in the garage but they won't release it till they are paid.  Every day I call (it takes about 40 minutes to get through). New excuses are given me. on the 15th of June they "couldnt access their emails." A few days ago I was told there was a discrepancy between the approved work and the invoice and it needed to be examined by an engineer. Customer complaints seem to have no clout with the claims side. Any suggestions how I get them to pay up?  On top of this they sent me my renewal price which is double the previous premium.

Insurers normally have 28 day payment terms, or longer. An unfortunate downside of using your own garage

With our network garages they used to send a batched file of invoices at the end of the month and they'd all be settled on day 28 and so potentially 59 days after the car repair was completed.

Just found out from reading through to page 37 of the policy booklet that Churchill is a phantom, just a trade name for UK Insurance limited.  Anyway on Tuesday this week "Churchill" told me they had made a BACS payemnt to my garage for the repairs. Their accounts branch has been watching out for the payment. Today I was told that perhaps the person who told you that didn't check properly.... So today they tell me that a cheque has been posted to the garage. So I expect this will give UK Insurance Limited another week before the money comes out of their account, or if the stamp is 2nd class even longer. Just spoken to Claims (they called me back). They can't tell me how much the cheque is for or where they have sent it. That information is not available to us......
