How do we get out of a fix?
Hi,
We fixed our tariff with edf
last summer when there were very high deals thinking we were doing the right thing. When everyone else’s electricity went town on July 1, ours jumped up by an extra £28 per month. My question is whether there is any way out of this without paying the £150 exit tariff? I know UW will pay exit fees if we move 3 services to them but I’m not sure I want to do that. Are there any other options?
Thanks!

There are other threads re EDF who seem to accept transfers within EDF without charging the Exit Fee.
Stick with EDF fix or move to standard rate for energy? - Page 2 — MoneySavingExpert Forum
Ask to go onto the Monthly Variable DD if that sort of arrangement suits you - lower bills in summer, balanced by very high in winter.
The £28 probably follows their 6 monthly review - were you in debt at the time of review. Take care if taking your figures from tha App balance.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
Surely, that is the risk that you take when you enter into a fixed rate contract.Kimb_t said:Hi,

You entered a contract knowing the terms.
Accept them now as you did then.
Would you be happy if EDF ignored the fix rate part of that contract and put your prices up mid term ?

I agree with posters about the terms but where did EDF come into it?0

EDF is mentioned in O/P.LindsayT said:I agree with posters about the terms but where did EDF come into it?

We were in debit but less than 6 months previously. It is because of no price cap so our original rate has kicked in.Robin9 said:There are other threads re EDF who seem to accept transfers within EDF without charging the Exit Fee.
