Can anyone suggest a bank where I can open a child saving account online (not in branch)

Options
Help. I am trying to open a bank account for my 3 children online, I have spent about 5 hours doing this but no joy. Halifax says you can do it with a smart phone but went through the process and they want me to go into branch. I really want to open one online, the only one I have found is starling kite which is £2/month. If I was to travel, my nearest branches are either ones where the parent has to have an account e.g. lloyds or HSBC which are only open 9-3 weekdays or Halifax which is only open 9-3 weekdays. How do they expect people to do this with kids at school and working?
First direct don't do childrens accounts. I am completely stuck as to how to open an account for my kids online, any help very much appreciated.
The kids are 12 and under so I don't want a debit card account, just a saving account.
Thanks.

Where do you have an account?

Do you want it in their name, or your name but joint or assigned to them?

There are several you can open by post but this would mean sending ID through the post.  Some building societies are open on a Saturday morning if that is possible for you.  YBS Rainy Day Saver Issue 2 currently pays 4.35% on balances up to £5,000.  2 withdrawals are allowed per account year. Can be opened in trust and SO's and bank transfers can be made into the account as well as cash in branch.  With online access once opened DC deposits are possible.
  • Sue my account is first direct and they don't do kids accounts 😒
  • Growing old, thank you but I don't want to post off kids passports with the holidays coming up.
Looks like online isn't an option I'll have to find a local branch which opens accounts on Saturdays

NatWest do a child's saver. I opened this online and didn't have to go in branch. You take photos of ID

It is a saver held in trust, however the trustee adult can make withdrawals

Could  you open a current account online, and then open children's accounts - perhaps with HSBC, or Lloyd's?

It's always a good idea to have more than one account, and not to have everything with a single institution.
  • Hampshire Thank you would have been good but I would need to be a Nat west current account holder

Thank you. I may have to do this which I don't really mind but I wanted to get the kids accounts set up online sooner.

My kids are adults now but I'm pretty sure I opened at least one of them on a Saturday at Santander.
