By way of update. I was emailed by CTSC a week ago with a question about my Mum (who died in 2017 and her probate was issued within 5 weeks). I emailed CTSC the requested information straight away but still no news. 14 weeks and counting.0 -
My wife applied last November….the ‘next day delivery’ of her paperwork took ELEVEN days to get the due to postal strikes 🙄
probate arrived at the end of March - around 16 weeks.Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!1 -
It's a frustrating process. I submitted probate forms on 31st May, two weeks later had email to confirm they had received will etc. Probate granted on 4th Aug. This was with a house involved and IHT forms submitted.1

How long it takes seems to be completely random. I'm getting to the end of the process for my late Mother. IHT forms submitted on line in March, Probate form submitted on line in early April, 2 weeks later confirmation that HMCTS had received the application. IHT paid late April. Next thing I receive is an email mid June stating they cannot process the probate application as I had not submitted IHT forms. Back to the IHT department, 'oops it looks as if someone forgot to send the relevant form to the HMCTS', we'll do it now. So it looks as if we could have had the Grant in mid June, around 7-8 weeks, instead the email confirmation came through last week, sealed copies to follow in up to 10 working days. We are incredibly lucky that someone has fallen in love with my mother's house and has been prepared to wait, hopefully we exchange contracts soon. There is no way you can really track progress, you just have to wait patiently until something happens.1

Did IHT for my Dad myself. IHT paid since 25th May, have letter from NS&I to say they have sent the funds through to HMRC. Applied for probate. Now August, receive email from Probate Registry to say they are still awaiting the IHT421 to be sent from the HMRC . This was all done online.1

Applied May 12 2023, after 10 weeks, no word so made a nuisance of my self on their webchat (which is always conveniently unavailable , however you can still access it at www.apply-for-probate.service.gov.uk/avaya-webchat )
They promised to expedite the application, which took further chasing and it was granted after 12 weeks. Absolutely disgraceful considering that we are paying £273 for the privilege of someone doing about 15 minutes of work.2 -
MrsT applied for probate for her sisters estate about 6 weeks ago - by post.
