    Yes, it normally does that, it asks if I want to authorise with the card reader or the app, I choose app and authorise with my thumbprint. It didn't do that this time, it just said 'declined'. That's why it didn't say anything in the app about it, and they said they didn't do it, it was visa.

    It's not Visa. It'll be Nationwide's implementation of Visa Secure (formerly Verified by Visa).

    Call centre staff don't know the ins and outs of things.
