Student gym renewal - be aware!

Just thought I'd pass on my son's experience of renewal today, wont mention the gym group itself
His student renewal came up and they said you can renew for £279 today. (down from £379 after a code they gave him)
Last year he recalled he paid £127 and he thought "oh that's inflation".
SO I had a look around. Direct through their own website, a student membership was in fact £239. And they give a 10% off code also on their website, making it £203.
Still a lot more than last year (here is an example of where raising interest rates increases inflation as all costs get passed to the consumer).
But a saving of £76 (over 27%) over their "offer".
To me felt very much like auto-renewing your insurance (ie DONT DO IT!)
Hope this helps someone else.
Best!
