Ebay bank transfer help

Hoping someone can please help ?
We purchased an engine on eBay we agreed the sale and then transferred the money via bank.
The engine is not working despite the advert saying it does and was in working condition?
What can I do ?

Did you complete the purchase via Ebay's processes or did you go 'off piste' and complete the sale directly with the seller?
Is this a private seller or a business?
Did you collect in person and have the opportunity to inspect/test the item?
The obvious first step would be to raise a return request on the Ebay auction saying the item was not as described but your specific protections will depend on exactly how the transaction went down.0 -
Thank you it was sold via eBay but the seller asked for bank transfer ?I have all the texts and messages it was sold as working and was inspected as far as it could be as was already out of the vehicle.
will raise a return and see what happened thank you very much0 -
You have no real protection with eBay as bank transfers are not covered by their policy , if you open a return for SNAD and return the item eBay can’t get your money back, so whatever you do , return or not you are reliant on buyer agreeing to refund. So you need to contact seller and explain the issue and hope they will refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Cheques, money orders, and bank wire transfers aren't allowed for most eBay purchases. However, you can use these payment methods to buy vehicles, capital and business equipment, real estate, and items you pick up in person.
