Does PIP count towards household income in relation to student finance?

Hi, My eldest is looking at going to uni 2024 and so I've starting to look at calculators trying to figure out what parental loan contribution I will need to make up. Haven't found anywhere that can confirm whether I would need to disclose my wife's PIP as part of household income or whether it wouldn't be counted? Many thanks

As far as I remember you declare it & it is disregarded.

  • Thanks, I assumed it should be as it's dedicated funding for her health condition not disposable income.

The "household income" you declare for student finance is any and all taxable household income.
Whilst some benefits are taxable, PIP is not one of them therefore you don't include it.
