What was leaking from your steering wheel? That’s quite worrying, there should be no liquid in it.
    Mine has a coffee dispenser.

I have been going to Ford main dealer for past twenty years. My friends keep telling me to find another reputable . It’s heavy on my pocket but it’s for my peace of mind. Thanks for all your posts and advices. I have taken them on board as you said the advisories might differ from tester to tester. One advisory regarding steering wheel Ford quoted over £1000 if it does need to be fixed will take the car for scrap. I will ask a quote from an independent garage. Thanks

I’m envious; mine only has a fridge.

I think we can assume that it was a leaky power steering pump at that price, especially as they say the rack has a slight leak.

The car could soldier on for years if the cambelt doesn't break.

I wouldn't be paying for a full dealer service every year if it does less than 1000 miles, it wants an MOT for a safety check and an oil & filter change if you really love it, but I'd get a price for a cambelt change at a garage and consider doing it sooner rather than later.

The alternative is run it until it breaks & forget the servicing just check the oil, water, brake fluid and washer levels, then use your recovery to drag it home and scrap it.
Could last 3 weeks, could last 5 or more years.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

If it's illegal because it was unroadworthy, then it was illegal to drive it there.
The difference is you may not have known when you drove it there, but you would have known after the garage told you and you drove it back.

    But no difference in law.

And in any event, the garage's opinion about it might not be legally correct.

If you have breakdown service, will they tow your car to the local garages with dangerous mot failure ????
