It’s gotten tasty for me.
Our old house broken into Feb 2018 - luckily they found the car keys 1/2 hr after break in without waking us upCar was then lashed all the way to town with REG captured on various speed cameras, used in a cash machine ram raid & then turned into a crispy critter burnt out so bad they couldn’t even read the VIN and had to identify the car through personal items that escaped worst of blaze in the boot.
so total vehicle loss - churchill offered just under £17k for a car we’d bought for £21k just 18 months previous. Took it and bought a less desirable car on police recommendation, and paid the removal firm with the remainder and got the heck out of that house after 3 months of broken restless sleep.
fast forward to today - get a letter from Churchill saying they are paying us £2k because they ‘made a mistake valuing our vehicle at the time’ note approx 30% of that is interest - original amount would have been £1,400.
its a nice surprise to have of course - I had no idea this was even a thing till got the letter today and had a read online about it. We got lucky as well as the ruling only just covered us - five years previous from 2023 ruling.Lancashire
