Legal protection

Hi
I want to potentially make a medical negligence claim for an incidient that happened May 2023 and may use my legal protection on my home insurance.
However it's due for renewal already mid july I do not wish to renew because it's too expensive and I will have a new provider (already set up a new one for mid July)
So what do I do - I am not ready to claim as I need to get evidence first and then my renewal would have relapsed?

Initiate the claim now, there is no obligation to retain the insurance through the duration of the claim.1
