Bounced energy DD but immediately paid after

Options
Hi,

I pay my eon next energy bill by direct debit each month and have always paid on time. I bank with Starling and have a bills pot that my DDs come out of. Yesterday however there wasn’t quite enough funds in the pot (my fault) and I didn’t get to it in time before the payment had declined.

I immediately spoke to EON Next who offered some reassurance that a second attempt would be made for the payment and that this wouldn’t have an impact on my credit rating but I wasn’t entirely reassured and so made a manual payment for the full amount on my statement. The balance was showing as paid by the end of the day that the DD was due on.

I suppose I’m just wondering how likely it is that I will receive a missed/late payment on my credit file for this? I’m hoping to apply for a mortgage later this year and am concerned. My credit file is squeaky clean otherwise.

Thanks in advance. Lesson learnt not to pay bills from Starling pots.

Some DD payments are automatically re-attempted within 7 days, others like council tax are not.

Try not to over react, your payment wasn`t late.

The DD will go through on the 2nd attempt - it's too late for it to  be stopped
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Make sure there's enough in your account to pay the second DD attempt.

Your credit rating is a pointless, made up number, that no lender ever sees, ignore it.

As others say, the payment was not late so it will not have a negative impact as no other lenders will ever see it.

    That's not exactly true.
