Relentless debt

Back again, like the proverbial bad penny. Life totally sucks. No money, growing children and no skills to earn a wage. I honestly thought about not coming home today.
I applied for two jobs this evening, but unlikely to be considered as I have little to offer them in the way of experience or talent. Not sleeping, not eating but also still fat,
What can I do? £20K in debt, plus mortgages of over £500K. Budget shows I've got a £1600 deficit each month and it's only getting worse.

Hello Dizzy,
Sorry your feeling this way! You will have desirable qualities, but maybe ones you don't see as transferable...write down everything you do in a day...cleaning - takes skill and foresight, washing and drying your laundry again, skill, knowing what to Seperate, how to dry different items. Those couple of jobs some form of organisational skills and know-how. There is a job for everyone, sometimes they may not be what you think (believe me ive done allsorts) but please keep trying and look everywhere and anywhere, speak with employment agencies too a couple of places i have worked only take on agency staff to begin with so "they know if they are hard workers"
I think debt definitely takes such a toll on your mental health, i have been there recently and i am working my way through it day by day, trying to look at the end goal. The middle of the month is always the hardest, you have the least money and cant move forward with paying anything down.
Theres lots of support on here too! Reading through diaries helps so you know your not on your own.xx0 -
Not just skills you’d think of, but enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and reliability can be even more important than knowing how to do something in the first place. The trick is to sell yourself as a package, rather than worry about the things you don’t have YET. You’ll be fine….in a few months you will be in a different position I’m sure. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien
