Got First JSA Appointment but Starting Job

I put in a claim for JSA 16 days ago and received a text asking me to attend a first appointment on Saturday.
Yesterday I was offered and accepted a job, starting next Monday. What’s the procedure here? Do I still need to attend to ensure I get the money due or phone up to tell them about the job?

Let's Be Careful Out There1 -
Attend assuming you actually want the money you would be entitled to from JSA.

Plus just in case something goes pear-shaped with your job between now and Monday.

Similar circumstances last year.....I attended, got paid a pittance and then because I was working wasn't entitled to anything further from that date.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. You would go and sign on, they will pay you anything you may be owed and then when you start work, you report the change and if working more then 16 hours per week the claim will close.
If working less than 16 hours you would need to declare your wages and you will get your stamp paid towards your pension, but may not receive any JSA.

Sometimes they work Saturday.Saturday opening is now the norm, but it dependant on sufficient staff to be able to deliver the service. Many of the smaller job centres are not open on Saturdays. Some are also not resourced on a Saturday for walk in queries, only pre-booked appointments, so only offer a limited service.
