Lost shopping at Lidl

Have you ever put an item in the supermarket trolley and found out there's no sign of it when you got home?   There's a number of possible explanations; I suspect the most common is rushing at the checkout and leaving it the out-tray of the till.  Anyway, I asked the cashier if they had any record of a bin liner roll being left at the till last Wednesday. They hadn't; but were happy to take my word for it and not charge me for the bin roll I had collected this week in its place! This is quite good service because I hadn't even got a receipt. :)

Arguing with a customer for a £2 pack of bin liners isn't worth it. Spending up to an hour in labour checking CCTV or chasing up receipt details when a customer gives you a date or time which 80% of the time is always wrong, again isn't worth it. They made a logical choice.

However, had someone try saying they left a bottle of whisky at the self checkout and that if he can just pick up another one without paying. Yeah no chance... Not even going to entertain that one...

Parent lost the Christmas turkey one year that way. Presumably the person in the queue behind her had a very good Christmas.
unsurprisingly, the supermarket in question didn’t replace it.

I wasn't arguing or expected a refund, I just asked if they kept stuff left behind.

Morrisons keeps a written record of left behind items.
