Non-Smart Prepay electric meter. Am I missing something?
Why is Martin advising running down credit as low as possible before the July price reduction? Surely the only important thing is to top up on July 1st, and that will reset the price for all electric used from then on, whether there was £1 on it previously or £200.
Am I missing something here?

There is a delay between topping up and the new rates hitting the meter so you will want to top up 2-3 times in succession as soon as 1st July hits to see the cheaper rates hit the meter sooner1

I didn't know that, thank you. I thought the key updated the meter immediately. It still leaves the question of why you should run the meter down as much as possible in advance though, I can't see how it makes a difference.superkoopauk said:There is a delay between topping up and the new rates hitting the meter so you will want to top up 2-3 times in succession as soon as 1st July hits to see the cheaper rates hit the meter sooner

If you knew that petrol was going to be cheaper from Saturday, would you buy a thankful today?

No, but unlike the petrol in my car, the electricity already paid for in my meter will change price when I next refuel (July 1st), so why does it matter?Gerry1 said:Rudyson said:

I think the meters have a maximum they can hold (£255?). But as long as you have room for say three £5 top ups over three days that should do the trick.Rudyson said:

I think he just means don’t top up before 1st July, just run down the credit you already have rather than putting more onRudyson said:Why is Martin advising running down credit as low as possible before the July price reduction?
