PIP extension and decision

Months ago my PIP form arrived and I sent it back. I was late doing it, but I appealed with the help of Citizens Advice and got back pay and PIP reinstated. The review was due to be done by July, it had already been extended due to covid, so I was anxious about it being reviewed. A letter came last week and now they have extended it until 2024, but of course the decision could take place between now and next year. Has anybody else had another extension?

One of the other forums I am on has claiments on it that filled in their reassessment forms a year ago and still haven't heard anything aside from the occasional text saying it's still being looked in to. Others are getting replies within a few weeks. It really does seem to be a varied experience at present I'm afraid.1

Yes, you and many others are having their awards extended further because of the delays with review decisions. There are extremely long delays with review decisions.

Thank you for replying and there does seem to be a backlog, but on the plus side it extends PIP for a bit longer. A friend applied for PIP, was denied and challenging it with the help of CA, and had a text the decision is due by the end of next month. They should get it considering their physical and mental health problems, but I remember having to appeal mine when I applied for it years ago.0

Yes hubby sent back his PIP review form in September and bar a phone call to check they had it and were processing it he's heard nothing but his PIP is still being paid.0

I was originally awarded until late 2022. Then around COVID I got a letter saying it was "extended" until 2024. Then bang on the day my original award was due to be reviewed I got a letter for reassessment. It's been seven months since I sent in all the new paperwork and I haven't heard anything except an initial text message confirming receipt (in January) then another text in May saying "We still have your PIP form and will be progressing your review as soon as we can."¯\_(ツ)_/¯1

Finally heard from PIP in relation to my hubbys reassessment sent back in September 22.They want him to have a face to face mid august. They are taking a long time with reassessing 9 months now since he sent that form back.3

I've seen claims from 2021 and from just 2 weeks ago.

My review of my original award in Feb 21 was due in August 2022 (no extension offered) but I didn’t receive the review forms until January this year. Forms and evidence duly returned within two weeks, DWP receipt by text and sent a further text two months ago saying it was still being processed. I rang last week for an update and was told all reviews are subject to a triage period of 30 weeks from receipt of completed forms DWP end! And mine still hadn’t been triaged. Once it is, it will be passed to an assessor but no timescale was offered as to how long it would be before they then contact me. I am still being paid though. As my conditions have worsened and capabilities lessened, I am hoping for a higher award - last time I scored 11 points for Daily Living so was just 1 point off enhanced. If I am successful in getting enhanced, would they back date and if so, to when? The original review date of August 22, date of actual delayed review or date of assessment?0

Normally it's the date of the decision, but they (don't know if in all cases) are backdating to the review forms, so for you that would be January.

Some are backdated and some aren't.
