iMessage and a new sim

My wife has a new sim in her phone but has also transferred her old number, so if a text is sent to the new or old number it arrives on her phone. When she sends a text it shows to the recipient as her new number not her contact name. On iMessage settings it shows her new number only. I think this is an iMessage issue, how can I get her old number to display again on iMessage, tried signing in and out and resetting network settings to no avail. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Hi, couple of things I would check. Is the phone number linked to the Apple ID? Is the iCloud sync for contacts on?

Go into settings => Messages => Send & Receive
From there you can choose which number/email address to start new conversations with in iMessage. For any existing conversations it will send from the number/address it was received to.0
Confirm your email address to Create Threads and Reply
