Car insurance for overseas visitors

We have two children who are resident overseas and no longer have UK driving licences. They visit us each year for a few weeks.
Pre-COVID they could be added easily and cheaply to our car insurance but the best I could do last summer added over £1000 to my premium. We live in London and drive a 9-year old Lexus CT. The big insurers seem to have stopped offering the flexibility so there is no real market operating.
Outraged!!

There are separate Insurances foreign residents can take out to cover vehicles they are driving while in the UK.
Search for walkabout car insurance. Aimed at backpackers who come to UKThe comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
