Has anyone been made bankrupt by HSBC?

Afternoon all
Has anyone been made bankrupt by HSBC? Please share your experience with me. They are one of my main creditors in my (failing) IVA so I need to know how to deal with them when they start chasing me again:eek:

How much do you owe them? It is very unlikely that they will make you BR as it can cost them up to £1400 to do it with no guarantee of any money back. Have you spoken to the company managing your IVA? How long has it been running for? Is it with one of the debt charities or a commercial firm? I would suggest you ring one of the charities for advice anyway.
As I said it is unlikely even if they threaten it but it is not impossible. Hopefully someone will be along with some more advice soon.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
I owe them about 25k. My IVA has been running for 13 months now but for the last 5 I have only been paying what I can afford. The IVA company are sending me a certificate of non-compliance. I don't think my IVA company will make me bankrupt as I have not paid enough to cover all their fees (obviously it will cost them money to make me BR.)
I doubt that HSBC will just leave me alone and write the debt off though.......0 -
i know a guy who owes HSBC £35K, not a snowball in hells chance of getting it, they keep writing though, bless em...

I am not saying they will write the debt off. What I am saying is that they won't automatically make you BR. They will just keep hassling and hounding you untill they sell to a DCA and it will start again.
Do you want to go BR? or do you want to try and negotiate a new payment plan with them?
It might be worth your while having a chat with National Debtline.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Some banks will take £10 a month for the rest of your life rather than making you BR as far as they are concerned anything is better than nothing.Barclaycard 3800

Another spot on 100% agreement
Many years ago , I had a CCJ for an Amex card, they sent me a letter once with another person's details attached. I owed about 6K and was paying 500 a month. The other person owed £50K and was paying £10 a month :eek:0 -
I think I will wait and see what HSBC do; if they hassle me continuously I will save up and take the plunge and declare myself bankrupt. There is no way I am going to get tied to them again.:eek:0

Which banks are these then BR? None of mine would, and consequently they got nothing. HSBC are one of the worst for this IMHO.DISCHARGED 12th December 2007:T

I wish! if my creditors had have accepted £10 a month it would have been a different story....Barclays & HSBC were the 2 worst creditors I had to deal with as for other creditors? they wanted full SOA breakdowns of my I&E and then would only come to a payment agreement of 6mnths...and to add after my BR discharge i'm still arguing with HSBC to update my credit files (they still keep adding defaults) hopefully though it'll get sorted soon...nasty letter lodged with the information commisionerWe all die. i cant concieve the concept of paying £10 a month, per debt, for life, it makes BR look even better.0
