MS Money

Options

I’ve been using MS Money to manage my money for 25yrs, this is now a problem as support the program has long since discontinued and it will only run on operating systems up to windows7. I now need to update my pc to win 10/11, can anyone recommend a similar non-professional low/no cost but modern money management program that I will ideally be able to import my current data into?

I haven't used it for over 12 years (moved to a Mac) but I'm pretty sure I've seen posts saying it works fine on Windows 10.

MS Money works absolutely fine on Win10 ....haven't tried it on Win11 myself, but heard it's OK on there to.
  • I am using MS Money v11 on Windows 11 (Arm version, via Parallels Desktop on a Mac) without issue. If it works on the Arm version of Windows 11, you would probably assume it works on Intel version.

Which version of MS Money are/have you been you using? I've just installed the final UK version on a Windows 11 PC, and it appears to be fine. If that's not the version hat you already have, you can pick up a copy from my Dropbox.

Failing that, I've been using AceMoney for years, and it runs fine on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. There's an initial cost of about £40 (it seems to fluctuate a bit with exchange rates), but no ongoing subscription. Importing data in various formats is possible, but it can be a bit fiddly if .csv is necessary (columns might need to be reordered).

I'm using Money 2005 on Windows 10... no problems... and have all transactions back to November 1999 at my fingertips!

Money 2005 still works for me on Windows 11.
The only thing it doesn't do anymore is automatically update stock/fund prices.

Although Gaiersoftware's MSMoneyquotes is a work around to that (albeit there is a potential issue with Microsoft Quote system...see other thread re this

I'm still using MS Money on Windows 11. It has a frightening amount of data from over 20 years but now I only use it for pensions and  investments. I don't really care what I spent in Tesco in 2004.

For day to day spending I have been using Moneydashboard which is the sort of product which Money really should have evolved into. Sadly, Moneydashboard is no longer being actively developed but I have been unable to find an alternative which I like.
