  • I too can join those above and say I've become victim to this company.

Same as others - they were 'calling from o2' as my contract was up for renewal. They had all my contract details, knew how much was left on the old one, had my details etc. so appeared totally legit. Normally alarm bells would be ringing and  I've ALWAYS been vigilant of cold callers, but they got me at a particularly weak moment, and I feel like a total fool, really angry at myself!

I'm still within the 14-day cooling off period, so hoping to resolve, but seems like this might not happen reading others' responses above?! @suzigzag did you get anywhere? They were telling me the same thing! Technically it is a new contract, so contract law still exists, whether it's with the same provider or not?

Has there been any outcome or way out for others?

I am trying to use my consumer right to a 14-day cooling off period but they're refusing because I am 'still with O2' as didn't need a new SIM or number and I'm using the O2 network still. My contract is now with Plan.com and Supplier is Phone-Smart.

I feel incredibly stupid for getting roped in, but like so many others I was under the impression I was talking to O2 (which was my provider). They didn't ask for much personal information - they already had it!
I will cancel my direct debit with them so they can't take any more money, but I'm concerned I'll enter into some legal battle?! Any thoughts on this?

I have since called o2, who have been helpful, I've asked for a PAYG sim to tide me over and move back to o2 with a PAC from these Phone-smart scammers.

    What an idiot!

Cancelling the DD does not stop the contract. It will lead to unpaid markers on your credit history (the important bit lenders look at )
As well as possible charges for a bounced DD by the company. (check the T/C on this)

  • I got intouch with o2 on Facebook messenger saying I think I’ve been scammed I said it was plan.com. 02 said that they are a 3rd party offering business deals and that they are legit. I got frauded by this aswell they are a joke everytime. Worst mistake I’ve ever made believing that o2 was phoning me they just hound you every day. Can’t get access to my o2 app and my signal data is all over the place hardly ever get 5g and when someone rings my phones be it goes to 3G and the signal is terrible I got in touch with them to cancel and they are saying I have to buy out the remainder of the contract but I said I am within the first 14 days of the contract starting and I got put on hold then got told that a manager would call me back they haven’t so back on the phone to them tomorrow.

@Monsterskippy I believe plan.com only offer business contracts so the normal consumer rights do not apply - which is why these contracts are targeted. However if it is not a business contract then you may be covered under consumer rights. What do the T&C's say? Hopefully they are smart enough to have complied with that part at least.

I kicked off with them saying I am within my first 14 days so I need a pac code and they have given me one that lasts for 30 days the amount of people I was getting passed around to I just emailed customer support and said listen given me a pac code and let me go I’m still within first 14 days of contract and I am sick of getting passed from pillar to post just give me a pac code and let me go how hard can it be. I now have the pac code because at first they said that I need to buy out my contract nearly 600 pound I said no chance I think I will have to pay 1 months bill that’s it. I am going into the o2 shop on Friday to get put back on a o2 pay monthly contract. I will update you with how much they try and charge me. It has been nothing but stress with this plan o2 they are a absolute joke never falling for this thing again I will only deal with phone contracts in a shop now I’ve learnt my lesson I can go through this again it’s to stressful.

What has this got to do with 02? All they know is that you agreed to leave & join the other company.

One thing I practise is never answer phone if it is a number not recognised. If it's important they leave a message, if not then you have saved some wasted time talking to someone you don't need too 👍

They phone of a 0161 number or London but it has been sorted now I just have to pay the first months bill and don’t have to buy out contract or anything I have learnt my lesson and won’t be making that stupid mistake again then kept nagging me when I was in hospital with pneumonia and that but thankfully everything is sorted now I won’t be that stupid again

Sadly it looks like they have account info from o2, either shared by o2 or obtained fraudulently, which leads customers to believe they are talking to o2.

Yes I can confirm that I have successfully returned to being a direct o2 pay monthly customer. The woman in the shop who served me said that there has been loads of people that this has happened to. The coverage from plan is shocking never get 5g always used to on 02 whenever anyone calls it goes straight to either 3G or edge and data would just go off during day for hours and not work. Glad to say I am back on proper o2 now which is great I hope the people affected by plan.com get the resolution they are looking for as they make it a very stressful process to cancel and try and use a lot of bullying tactics. I won’t be making the same mistake again that is for certain.
