Heathrow - short stay car park

In August I have to collect my Daughter from Heathrow T3, what's the best way to park? I had looked at booking short stay car parking but 2 hours were £38. This would also require her flight to be on time and no delays coming through arrivals.

Dropping her off we have a hotel the night before with parking so not an issue that end.

Pre booking very short car parking time is far more expensive than just turning up and paying on the day.

    It's  £19.40 for up to 3 hours.

Or you could make a tour of eg. Costa coffee outlets, buying a small latte at each and using the customer car parking provided.
(Other fast food chains are available, most have customer parking.)
If she phones you when she lands you'll have plenty of time to get to the terminal before she's completed immigration and bag claim.

I believe they offer 2hrs free car parking at the long stay car park.  A real MSE tip would therefore be to ask her to catch the free long stay car park bus from the terminal and you meet her in the car park.   Whether after a long flight and with bags she will appreciate that is another matter...
  • Thanks @Westin she's slumming it in Malaysia for nearly 3 weeks and one rest day, and no proper bed. I can just picture her face if I suggest that

It’s actually only 30 minutes at the long stay. It’s actually quite straightforward and just as easy as other options.

The best thing to do, if she wants picking up at the Terminal is for her to call you when she has her baggage. Tell her to make her way to the pick-up point at the T3 short stay car park and for her to text/call once she’s there. Then you drive in and pick her up and leave. It’s £6.

    Wish I had that option

rather than getting back to where car is parked and then driving 3 hours home

Ask her which option she would like to pay for... ;)
