EDF Smart meter installed/Bills?

A few weeks ago I had my old meter replaced. I was expecting to see online, or even receive, an end of life bill, before the new meter starting point kicked in. Just so I had a record of the usage on the old meter. I did record the numbers on the old meter, I have E7 and the engineer wrote the numbers on the new meter, so I assume EDF were sent those numbers, since they are now receiving the usage via the SM and I won’t be asked to read it anymore. EDF only usually send two bills a year, the next one is due anytime now. Bit worried that I don’t have two separate readings or will EDF put them so I can see the difference going forward? What happened when you had a meter installed, EDF or other company?

When are you actually due your next bill - possibly 6 months after the last one ? That will include the old meter / new meter details - you will not get a bill dedicated to the meter change.
Although you won't be asked to read it the advice on this forum is to read and keep your own records - watch out for any Estimated reads on you bills.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill4 -
They won't send a bill for a meter change just like they don't send an individual bill for each price change.
The advice above is good - keep an eye on your own readings. Having a smart meter and having a working (i.e. sending the readings) smart meter are not always the same thing.0 -
My meter was changed in May and I haven't had a bill yet under the old meter. My bill is due in two weeks.

Anyone with a SM installation booked would be wise to submit readings a couple of days before and then take a photo of the old meter at the start of the installation. I would not rely on anyone to do a job right these days.1

thanks for the replies. The bill will come around 12th July. I was just surprised they did not at least log the old meter ending numbers for me to see. If it is itemised on the upcoming bill it will be useful. I was concerned if the engineer put the right Night reading in the correct box. Old meter said 1 was low 2 was high but the paper bill often swapped it saying 1 was high and 2 was low. When I first moved into the property I had a lot of problems with EDF before the bill settled down. They also said the E7 was for a full 7 hours, with no break, unlike the meter label showing with a split. The new meter seems to be working, goes off at 8.30 due to DLS at this time of year. With the old meter it would actually be on until 10.30am but they would never believe me or send an engineer to check. Meter is in an outside cabinet and they kept saying it had been read when I wasn’t at home, I kept asking why the bill always said Estimated until I sent them a meter reading if that was the case.
See if this gets removed. I removed the info that the mods said could give my address away.
