Hi i need a new shed about 8 x 14 ft but they are expensive. I have s concrete base where the garage is and was thinking of building a shed using pallets and bolt them into the bade. Anyone tried this?

Ah, using the pallets as just the structural frame?
Many pallets are certainly strong enough. And if you've ever tried dismantling them with a wrecking bar, very well assembled using serrated nails :-(0 -
Sounds feasible, but do you have a source of pallets the same size as I find they come in all shapes and sizes which would make construction tricky. What are you planning to clad them in?0

Yep totally possible. I actually saw an example on a forum some time ago. I've also made a wood store out of them, which is nice and sturdy.
Only downside is that pallets aren't usually made of the best wood, so longevity may be a problem....but would certainly be cheaper than a normal shed.
You would just have to make sure you have some sort of internal structure to keep them all together.0 -
As said above, there are huge variations in quality and strength, but some are very strong indeed, and pretty heavy.
They'd barely need securing to the concrete base; like most sheds, they can just sit there. Keep it isolated from the base - don't allow ground damp to get to the timber - so you may wish to first lay a row of bricks or blocks to raise them off, and add a dpc.
Once the frame is built, the quickest and most effective cladding is likely to be box-sheet metal. Or the current fav of composite shiplap cladding.0 -
