Hi
I made a card game which is made in China, the cost of the delivery is nearly as much as the game.
I wonder if this is correct?

I ordered 1,000 card games, which is 8 boxes, delivered by air. Each box is heavy maybe 15kg. Cost is $1,000.
Does that should right.
Its half when delivered by sea.

When I use to order toys they would always do shipping free, thats why im asking.

what size are the 8 boxes?

For airfreight $1k doesn't sound bad... for non-air then $500 sounds a high but you may find they have a minimum consignment or priced it as a full pallet

In addition you need to see what extra fees are going to be charged on arrival here.  Obviously customs clearance and VAT and possibly duty need to be paid.  I find that especially with sea shipments there are a lot of additional fees payable.
For relatively small shipments it may work out cheaper to buy from a UK importer who is buying on a larger scale.  It is easy to be seduced by the cheap factory gate price in China - you need to do your sums first!
  • shipping feed increased massively during covid, due to reduced capacity.  As with most things prices rarley come back down again.  Also, current cost of fuel etc keeps prices high.
