Well why wait if you could get tight now, the interest of 9%, 7.5%, 7%, 6.50%, 6.25%, 6,17%. But there is a caveat for this that you will need to find out by yourself 

Can’t deposit much into regular savers mind you

It's currently possible to save ~£50k a year in regular savers at 5-9% gross interest rates. Hasn't been this good for a decade or two.

Just a few days after the post there is already one year saving bond product with Interest of 6%. Another 6.02% one year saving bond at least marginally better than 6%
