Home insurance quotes changing daily

Home (buildings and contents) insurance is due mid July. I'm still awaiting the renewal quote from my current insurer. In the meantime I've got quotes via all the usual comparison sites, using the " save quote" function on all of them. The spread of prices is amazing, from £500 ish to almost £3000!  Interestingly, when I return to retrieve a quote I'm presented with a new "lowest quote" which can be £30 cheaper than the original one.  In the past week I've never had the same quote twice! Is this normal?  is there an optimum time window to get the lowest quote?

Usually best time to quote is about 21-28 days before renewal

Yes quotes change frequently, as part of the Insurers ratings systems is constantly subject to changes being made by analysts.

In the past for a postcode, you could find a rate for Buildings Insurance per thousand cover and rate for Contents Insurance peer thousand of cover.

Most Insurers stopped the fixed rates years ago.

And sometimes the more times people get online quotes, particularly if they make changes to information, the more likely they will be quoted more. Insurers systems have in-built protection to detect when people are trying to take advantage of online quotes, by manipulating information.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

If you find a low quote, click through to the insurers website and save it there where it's saved for something like 30 days. Then if no cheaper ones come up you have it saved or if you find a cheaper quote just go with that instead.
