2 student loans 2 different amounts

This September I'll have 2 children at uni, 1 first year, 1 second year. Both are staying in halls but their maintenance loans are different.
Year 1 student is set to receive just over £9k, year 2 student around £8800.
Is this likely to be correct?

There is a thing called the "long courses loan" which adds a certain amount for each week a course goes over the normal 30 weeks.
