Student loan - dropping from studies

Good evening all
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but during a period of job unhappiness, I decided to enrol on a part time OU degree course. At the time I could see good reasons to work my way through it. Of course I took the option to fund via student finance.
2 years on, a change of jobs and a deferred second year has brought me to a crossroads and a decision to stop the course. Degree level education isn’t for everyone.
But now i will have a loan to pay off, currently circa £5k, with payments due to start next April.
So the question is, do I pay off a chunk, and then take the hit for a period until it clears?
or choose to ignore its existence?

What interest will be charged and how would you treat any other loan with that same interest?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Will your income be high enough that you will eventually clear the loan? If not then it will eventually be written off, so no point paying off chunks now.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
