in Cutting tax
Hi
I have handed my notice to my current employer. towards the end of my notice period, I will take 2 weeks' annual leave i.e. my initial last day would be the end of July, deducting my remaining two weeks of annual leave makes my last day with my current employer the mid of July. And I would start my new job in mid-July.

Since I won't have my P45 when starting my new job in mid-July, I was asked by my new employer to complete the HMRC starter checklist.
Looking at the form I am very confused with the three statements A, B and C, not sure which statement in the HMRC Starter checklist (B or C) best suits my situation. My view is I would fall under Statement C. Please could anyone advise?
Many thanks

Surely ‘B’ ?
This is now my only job, but since last 6 April I have had another job, or received taxable Jobseeker's Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or taxable Incapacity Benefit.
Unless you wish to have all of your income taxed at 20% henceforth?
When you eventually obtain your P45 you can hand it to your employer.

I would certainly do option B but bear in mind that there is a possibility that your last pay from your old employer and the first pay from your new employer might fall in the same tax month Tax month runs from 6th of one month to 5th of next ) resulting in you being under-taxed. This would be corrected later sometimes by HMRC adjusting tax code to spread it out.0

If you start the new job before the old one finishes in theory you should tick C but if you are clear of the old job by the time the new one starts its B. Given the idea isnt that you continue doing both then you can tick B, understand you may be initially undertaxed and it will be corrected later.0 -
DullGreyGuy said:How is your current employer handling it? Are they saying your last day is 14 Jul and they will pay you the holiday as CIL or are they saying your last day is 31 Jul?
What is CIL stand for by the way? did you mean PIL 'Payment lieu'?
