  • I also forgot to mention that they had a record of me phoning and booking the flight and asking for wheelchair assistance but said there was no record of me speaking on live chat. I have the date and time and operator name and she said there was no record until I said I had a screenshot of the conversation and then she suddenly found it

I’ve had it confirmed by Ryanair that there is in fact a 24hr grace period during which you can correct errors, change flight details including route or dates, or names on booking  - anything apart from cancellation. Apparently this is not commonly shared
Did you actually contact them within 24 hours ?

If not, then I am afraid you don't have a leg to stand on.
Think OP is saying they tried to contact Ryanair during the hours they claimed to be open, but the call centre was closed.

But it may be a moot point anyway, if the proposed changes fall outside Ryanair's "minor changes" description
A member of Ryanair staff had told me the grace period is for any change including routes and dates but they try not to make this common knowledge

The call centre opening times stated on the website are CET not BST therefore the lines would close at 6pm UK time.

  • Just for information. I got an email from Ryanair this afternoon apologising for my having received inaccurate advice from their advisers and I was indeed eligible to change my flight dates under the 24 hour rule. I was to phone and would be able to change travel dates free of charge. When I phoned I explained my situation to the guy who answered the phone. He said the email was incorrect and I had to pay. After asking him to speak to his supervisor and being on hold for a long time he came back on the line and no apology or anything just said ‘what dates do you want to change to’. I gave him the dates in July and he changed them to August so I said he’d done in wrong snd he changed it so I was flying outbound on 4th August and inbound on 2nd July. It took quite a bit of effort to get him to understand that xx July to xx July was in the same month! It’s all done now and I can relax!

I wonder where that phrase originated ‘you don’t have a leg to stand on’? Being in a wheelchair I find it quite amusing because I literally don’t have a leg to stand on!
