The signs are very weird, the yellow one says
"We tolerate a a zero tolerance policy"
which makes it sound as if the staff are not happy about the policy but put up with it.
The pink one says 10 working days but doesn't say what a working day is, some may class that as Mon-Fri but the pharmacy is open 7 days a week.
I think the white "closed" sign is the best, it says they are closed 1-2 for a statutory lunch break, I'm not sure if that means they are forced to take lunch but would rather be working or are entitled to it so don't complain, probably the latter. But it's the use of the word "today" that is most interesting, are they only entitled to statutory lunch breaks on random days, such as the one the OP visited, and so only put the sign up on those random days? If it's every day, which would make sense, why not change the large opening hours board hanging from the plastic screen in-between the two paper signs?
Overall it's an overbearing, aggressive, confusing, poorly written bunch of nonsense but it's interesting people are happy to accept and defend such behaviour because some people are unpleasant to staff. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces4 -

I wonder if it was supposed to be "we operate..." I agree that all these signs could have done with a proof read. It looks so unprofessional.1 -
Honestly these signs have started being needed.I have left sales retail all together as I simply couldn’t be bothered with the abuse anymore, I do boxing I can look after myself so it’s not scary but it just gets draining.Customer comes in shouting and raging, I apologise and try to solve the issue, customer gets even angrier to the point I tell them to leave the shop as I’m not paid to be be abused.2-3 hours later email comes in from head office with a completely different series of events to what actually happened. Luckily we had cameras. We eventually went the sign route as it’s a useful “I’m not paid to be abused and my company will back me up on that”
Me and about 7-8 of my friends all went into sales about 13-14 years ago to different levels, all of us have got out of it since covid, mostly for similar reasons.3 -

I actually find it very sad and an indictment of life today that such notices are deemed necessary by employers.
However, if you are going to put signs up, at least make sure the message is clear, there are no spelling mistakes, misplaced commas (not comma's), and don't overload.
Totally unnecessary to have 2 'closed today' and 2 '10 working days' notices so close to each other.3 -
