Travel Insurance Claim - Excesses per person

I have recently submitted a travel insurance claim. My young daughter got ill whilst we were away and couldn't fly back on the planned date. The insurance company are saying we have a pay an access of £200 which is per person. Obviously i had to stay with my daughter, so could i argue we shouldn't have to pay the access per person and it should count as one claim as i had no choice but to stay with her, or does it sound right what the insurance company is saying?
Many thanks

The excess should be per person claiming so if there were 5 of you on holiday, 3 returned on the planned flight and 2 returned later and so are claiming then it should be 2 excesses you are paying.1
