Where to stay in alicanti area

read a few post`s where some of you have asked for ideas of where to stay.
well after the promise of a freinds nearly finished villa near allicanti, we decided to book cheap flights with easy jet for middle sept 05, villa has not been finished and wont be ready so i need your help to recomend a place to stay for the wife and myself and our 10 yr old son. and you recomendations for a town to stay in for a beach type holiday, weve only been to majorca before so we dont know the mainland, will consider any thing, hotels, self cater, villa`s b&b etc

you could try looking here or here , we have booked our latest holiday through the second link .......... we are about 25 mins by car south of Alicante
