Mobile help needed for Jersey, Channel Islands

I have a Giff Gaff contract and am visiting Jersey in the next few weeks for a short 7 day stay.  I have discovered that mobile calls/texts/data aren't covered.  What alternative could I use as a temporary measure but would need to keep my original phone number - would E-Sims work for this particular problem ?

Can calls from Giff Gaff be diverted to another number ?

If so, I'd be tempted to buy an O2 PAYG SIM and stick it in an old handset, assuming you have access to one.

No roaming charges AFAIK.

Or you could leave a recorded message on your GG number - quoting your temporary alternative number on holiday ?
