Charis Grant

I applied for the Charis grant through my gas supplier E.on as we were racking up debt due to both me and my partner off work due to operations last year totally 9 months between us I have been paying monthly towards the debt and energy costs. I only work part time at the moment and I receive PIP, we have 3 children in the house one who is under 5. They have awarded the grant so I have to make three monthly payments to get the debt cleared but they are giving me conflicting amounts on what I need to pay to get it they are asking for £142 per month which we cannot afford, then they sent me an email saying they could reduce the direct debit to £40 as long as it covers usage and then another email saying I had to pay £179 a month or I would not receive the grant. Does anyone know what the truth is I was under the impression as long as I made three consecutive payments and kept up with payments I could get the help. If I could afford to pay the higher amounts I would, but at the moment it's just not possible. It's really stressful to have waited and then to be told you won't get if you can't pay the higher amount.

My understanding is that most/all energy  grants will help you paying back existing debt, but not cover ongoing cost.

Are they asking for £142/£179 on top of the current DD to cover you energy use? The "£40 as long it covers usage" makes me think it does not.

What is you annual energy cost/monthly DD to cover this?
