My son has just turned 16. He will be starting college in September. I've read a lot of things about delayed CTC payments at beginning of September. Has anyone had any experience of this. They say to advise them asap so your payments don't stop. Are they just a simple continuance or is nothing simple!
My last payment will be August 8th, and I should have the next payment on September 6th if things go well! I'm assuming

Sorry pressed wrong button.
I'm assuming WTC will continue as normal and not affected by child turning 16.
I've dreaded this time.not just because my boy is getting older but you just know nothing will go right!
Thanks in advance 👍0 -
Past experience for my 3 children were that my CTC payments stopped for a while until they were recalculated. You will then receive a new award. In my experience it didn't matter how soon i reported the changes, payments still stopped. Can't advise about WTC because i didn't claim that.0

Child benefit may stop, but will restart once you declare they are in full time further education not of a higher level that attracts funding (Eg university)
Again i believe WTC rules are the same as CB.
There are other restrictions like hours of college which will allow a certain level of employment.Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

We recently updated Child Benefit to advise our child was staying in education. We did it online. One of the questions was whether you claim tax credits, and it indicated that it would advise the tax credit office for you if selected.
Just to add, we didn't get any confirmation back, but noticed a couple of week later that the entitlement letter was updated to reflect the extended date (Child Benefit that is)0
