Sainsbury's Bank frustrations

To close I simply click on Account Details and get these options:rabbit87 said:I have also been opening a new account each time and keeping the postman busy but i have left the previous accounts open with just £5 in them. How do you close them do you need to phone up?Also how is the interst payed. It is meant to be payed annually. Do you get the interest added on and returned to your nominated bank account when you close it or do you have to wait a year. Thanks.
As part of the closure form pop-up you state the account number and sort code for where you want to move the balance, and the interest is added before the transfer/closure is made. I have simply transferred to the new issue each time.1 -
That "close my account" option doesn't appear for everyone (myself included) so the secure message to close an account is the backup option I have to rely on.BreakingGlass said:

I am using Chrome on a Windows 10 PC - it may be browser specific.SonOfPearl said:

I had same problem- no longer could find close account option. Sainsbury advised me to accept cookies. This solved the problem.1

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have disabled my adblocker for the Sainsbury's Bank website and all cookies are allowed too. There's still no option to close accounts, so I have to send a secure message instead.GreenCustomer said:I had same problem- no longer could find close account option. It's quite quick anyway, so I'm not bothered by the lack of a link to close the accounts.
P.S. I use Chrome OS on a Chromebook.0 -
Have you tried logging in on an iPhone? The 'close account' option also shows on safari for me.SonOfPearl said:

Their variable rate ISA does not increase automatically but if you message them they increase the rate without closing and opening the new issue. They backdate the change to the date you requested the update.0

Thank you. I think have probably been a bit dumb not closing them because I wont have had interest on my interest at the new account higher rates will still be at the lower rates.BreakingGlass said:

Thanks, but I don't have an iPhone. Logging in on my android phone doesn't help. But I'm not bothered really, it's easy enough to close accounts the way I have to do it.BreakingGlass said:

Agreed, I'm on 5th or 6th issue of EA account with Cynergy this year alone. Easy to open new account online and transfer the balance from the old one. One of the best banks when it comes to ease of opening accounts.don't mind it when Cynergy do it as it's all done online, but SB just became a real pain0
