Has anyone had this happen to them? we went away recently and Air bnb said we damaged something that we know we didnt and demanded I pay £180. All they sent was a photo of the hob and a receipt, I asked if they could send a photo of the hob the day we arrived and the day we left. They said we should have taken photos when we arrived. How do we know the photo they sent is the actual photo of the hob, as they have a few properties. Air Bnb denied the appeal and closed it and have said that if i do not pay now, the money will be taken from my card on 3rd July . I tried to delete the card on there, it wont let me - I have called credit card company, they agreed its underhand, they said I have two options, to cancel my card or to raise a dispute when the money is taken and they will fight it. I want to choose cancel card, but if I do will Air bnb come after me in other ways?

Did you actually speak / live chat to Airbnb, rather than communicate via email?
This response from Airbnb is extremely unhelpful and can only encourage other property owners to claim for replacement old carpets, furniture etc. Hopefully you haven't yet filled in your visit feedback.0 -
Sinders22..did you resolve your problem?
My son is having the same issue. He is accused of damage to a TV screen, a scratch, which he is adamant he did not cause.
He didn't think to take a photo of the TV screen when he arrived at the Airbnb. Why on earth would you, especially if you didn't notice a scratch on the screen?
Airbnb say they will charge his cc tomorrow but he has already cancelled it. Communication from Airbnb is purely by their standard emails.
The initial charge was for 2 "designer" wine glasses which he broke in the dishwasher. The host wants 50€ for those, which he originally reluctantly offered to pay for. Within 24hrs came the TV screen damage claim.
So the total claim is for 300€.
What will happen if Airbnb can't claim off his cc? He'll obviously be banned from Airbnb but that isn't a problem. Once bitten etc.
The host has a photo of the scratch on the screen taken the day after his departure. My son never noticed it during his 2 day stay.
