My son is soon to turn 18 and has a child ISA. The current provider says it will swap automatically to a cash ISA. My son wishes to start a lifetime ISA. Can he move to a Cash ISA AND open a LISA in the same year and can he move money from the cash ISA to the LISA

Yes, he can open a LISA and it is possible to transfer the maximum £4000 from the "converted to adult cash ISA" to the LISA.
